Classic cars discovered on Phuket - Part 2

Buick Electra 225 and 1966 Oldsmobile Ninety Eight in Bangkok

Buick Electra 225 and 1966 Oldsmobile Ninety Eight in Bangkok. We visited a dealer in Bangkok who specialises in American classic cars. Not sure if their size and LHD would be suitable for Phuket. But they definitely look damn cool. (above)

Lincoln Continental Convertible. Open cars cannot be bigger than this one. And yes, it really has four doors. (below)

1974 AMC Matador Coupé in Bangkok, Thailand. Same car like in the James Bond 007-movie "The Man with the Golden Gun"

1974 AMC Matador Coupé. Do you remember the old 007-movie "The Man with the Golden Gun"? This is the car that finally got wings and could fly... well, this one cannot. (above)

2012 Rolls-Royce Phantom Extended Wheelbase in Bangkok. If you have 39.5 million baht left, this is the car for you at Siam Paragon. For our international friends: 1 million €... it is not a typing mistake. (below)

Fiat 850 Coupe in Patong / Phuket

Fiat 850 Sport Coupé on display in Patong Promenade Shopping Mall in Phuket. It was designed by Centro Stile Fiat and introduced in 1965. This car is one of the second series built between 1968 and 1970. (above and below)

Ford M151 MUTT in Phuket, Thailand

Ford M151 MUTT in Phuket. In the 1960s this car replaced the Willys Jeep in the US army. Its name is nothing else but the short version for "Military Utility Tactical Truck". But nicely restored like this one and in bright red colour it is a perfect fun car for the island. (above and below)

Mazda Bongo in Thalang, Phuket. Ok, you need a big heart for odd cars to fall in love with this first generation Bongo. But we think it is something really rare and special. When have you seen one last time? They were produced between 1966 and 1975 and had a small 0.8- or 1.0-litre rear-mounted engine. (above)

Isuzu KB 20 in Cherngtalay, Phuket. After seeing the Bongo above, this Isuzu KB 20 won't shock you anymore. It's a first generation model, based on the Isuzu Florian and produced between 1972 and 1980. It can be seen as the grandfather of today's D-Max. But everyone has a D-Max here on Phuket. Isn't it much cooler to transport your stuff with a classic Isuzu truck? (below)

Volkswagen Type 2 (T2) in Phang Nga. The landscape doesn't look Thai, more like a desert in Mexico or Morocco. But trust us, this photo was taken in Phang Nga. Note the conversion to wooden seats as well as double sqare headlights. (above and below)
